DESCRIPTION:From our President Carrie Schochet:  \n\n\n\n“For our first gathering\, my sister has graciously agreed to join me to help teach the basics of American Mahjong\, followed by guided play. I learned Mahjong by playing with people who could coach me through the game in real time\, and I think it’s one of the easiest ways to learn. I’ve heard of people sitting through 3- or 4-hour classes and still walking away unsure of how to actually play! So rather than spending hours on instruction\, we’re going to cover the fundamentals and then jump in and learn as we play. \n\n\n\nPlan for the afternoon: \n\n\n\n4:00 – Arrive\, grab a drink/snack & get settled \n\n\n\n4:20 – Mahjong 101: tiles\, the card\, basic rules\, Charleston\, etc. \n\n\n\n5:00ish – Break into tables for guided play! \n\n\n\nNo prior Mahjong experience is needed. The goal is definitely not to leave knowing every rule — it’s to understand enough of the game that you feel comfortable sitting down and playing again. \n\n\n\nCome ready to learn\, laugh\, ask lots of questions and hopefully get a little hooked.

SUMMARY:Fall Vine and Wine Experience at the Holy Grail Vineyard
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate fall evening of wine\, connection\, and conversation at the Holy Grail Vineyard\, a private Napa-inspired vineyard tucked into the rolling property of fellow EO member Jeff Grail. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin the evening at VINO\, a detached garage overlooking the vineyard\, where guests can grab a drink\, reconnect with fellow EO members and SLPs\, and explore the property at their leisure. \n\n\n\nThe highlight of the evening will be an engaging wine tutorial and guided tasting with Christel and Dan\, who will share their knowledge and passion for wine in a relaxed\, approachable setting. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply enjoy a great glass\, expect to learn something new while enjoying some exceptional wines. \n\n\n\nThroughout the evening\, we’ll enjoy charcuterie and plenty of time to connect. As the tasting winds down\, gather around the fire pit at VINO or head down into the vineyard to The HIVE\, a pavilion with its own fireplace. S’mores\, fireside conversation\, and a beautiful fall evening will round out the experience. \n\n\n\nWhile we’ll officially gather from 4:30–7:30 PM\, guests are welcome to linger afterward and enjoy the fire and company. \n\n\n\nThe Holy Grail Vineyard is not a commercial winery\, but rather Jeff’s personal passion project—an intimate slice of Napa Valley he created for family and friends. We’re excited to have the opportunity to experience it together.

SUMMARY:Behind the Brand: Rare Plant Fairy with Jocelyn Ho
DESCRIPTION:For our first Behind the Brand\, Behind the Member\, we’re spending the evening with Jocelyn Ho at Rare Plant Fairy. \n\n\n\nJocelyn had demand before she had a website. She was selling through Instagram and private Facebook groups with no ads and no funnel\, customers typing “sold” in the comments and orders going out of her spare bedroom. That audience is now more than 250\,000 followers\, and it still works as a sales channel rather than a marketing one. \n\n\n\nToday Rare Plant Fairy runs on 14\,000 square feet inside a former truck factory\, where every step from propagation to shipping happens under one roof. A plant starts in the tissue culture lab and grows out in the nursery on a vertical ebb and flow system. From there it can sell four ways: on the website\, in the RPF app\, on a live stream\, or on the retail floor. Everything leaves through the packing and fulfillment room\, thousands of plants a month. \n\n\n\nThe lab does more than production. The R&D team propagates ghost orchids\, working with universities and botanical gardens in Florida on an effort to reintroduce them to the Everglades as early as next year. \n\n\n\nWhat makes the evening worth it is the vertical integration itself. Plenty of us have considered it. Few have executed it\, and you will see what it actually takes\, including where the margin comes from and where it disappears when one link slows down. \n\n\n\nWe’ll start with cocktails and conversation. Jocelyn will then walk the group through in order\, lab to fulfillment\, with a stop in the streaming room\, so you see one chain rather than five separate rooms\, and finish with questions about the model and what she’s working through right now. \n\n\n\nJocelyn Ho is the founder and CEO of Rare Plant Fairy\, a 2025 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year regional winner\, a 2024 Crain’s 40 Under 40 honoree\, and a 2026 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow.
